The only trouble you’ll have now is choosing!
You can have a different flavour on each tier; we've never made a wedding cake yet that has been one flavour throughout.
We do use alcohol in some of our recipes, but this can be omitted / replaced, if required.
Our Wedding Service
INITIAL CONSULTATION: Prior to booking, we need to have discussed the approximate style, costs involved and got a good feel for your wedding. These can be conducted by telephone and/or email.
FACE TO FACE CONSULTATIONS: After you have booked, and depending on the complexity of the design, a face to face consultation appointment may be required. These are usually held at a venue near us. Bring along fabric samples, sample stationery, colour swatches and photographs, and we can discuss and agree on the size, flavour and design of your cake over a hot cup of tea and a piece of cake (or two!). These are generally held 6-8 months prior to your wedding.
MEET US AT A SHOW: Alternatively, if couples would rather visit us at one of the wedding shows we’re exhibiting at, this is a great way to see many of our current wedding cake designs. The list of our upcoming shows is on the 'Wedding Shows' page.
CAKE SAMPLE TASTING BOXES: Why not order a tasting box which will be delivered by Special Delivery right to your door? The tasting box will consist of 6 generous portions of different flavours of sponge and we charge £45, which includes postage and packaging.
We will liaise directly with your venue regarding a suitable delivery and setup time. If your cake requires decorating with fresh flowers, we will also liaise with your florist.
We have some beautiful cake stands which are available to hire to compliment your wedding cake, so please let us know should you need one.
TOP TIP: Do check with your venue if they have a cake stand you can use, as some don't supply them.
In order to secure the date for your wedding and avoid disappointment, we recommend booking us as soon as you have booked your venue. By just paying a small booking fee, you can then rest assured that the date is yours.
2020 & 2021 WEDDINGS: Our diary is now open for bookings for weddings in 2020 and 2021.
By commissioning a cake from us, you're investing in a work of bespoke art; a unique cake expertly and lovingly designed and created especially for your event. We have a minimum order value of £700 for weddings, and £250 for other celebrations. The final price will depend on the size, complexity of design, and the delivery destination.
Booking & Payment Terms
£200 booking fee is required on all wedding orders which then secures your date. The balance is due in full two months before your wedding day. All payments, once made, are non-refundable. Please refer to our Terms & Conditions for full details.
50% booking fee required, with full payment due a month before delivery / collection. If an order is placed less than a month before the required date, then full payment will be due at the time of ordering.
We would prefer payment by bank transfer. Please ask us for our bank account details, or you can find them on your invoice.
Deliveries are charged at £1 per mile, and charged as a return trip.
We do use nuts in some of our recipes and marzipan on our fruit cakes, so, unfortunately, we can’t guarantee any of our products to be nut-free.
Quality & Hygiene
All our ingredients are the finest and the freshest: We only use organic butter and flour; Clarence Court free-range eggs; fairtrade, top quality sugars and natural extracts (never essences or artificial flavourings). There’s fresh Amalfi lemon zest and Italian limoncello in our lemon sponge, seeds of premium Madagascan vanilla pods in our vanilla sponge and anything that contains chocolate will only be from Green & Black’s organic chocolate range. As for jams and curds, we use Bonne Maman, Duchy Originals, and sometimes make our own when the fruit is in season.
We have passed the Level 2 Food Hygiene with top marks and we’re proud to say that Colchester Borough Council’s food hygiene department has awarded us with the top score of 5 for ‘Scores on the Doors’. You’ll find us listed on the Food Standards Agency website.
